Difference Between Bibliography and Catalog | Bibliography & Library Catalog


Bibliography and Library Catalog both literally have the same meaning 'bibliography' and thus it does not have a literal difference but it has some special difference that needs to be understood. To understand its meaning it is necessary to understand the concept of both.

Catalog: The word catalog is derived from the Greek word 'Katalogus'. The literal meaning of 'kata' is' according to 'or' to 'and logus' means' word' 'order' or 'logic'. Thus the meaning of this word becomes clear. The catalog relates to the "content" that is arranged as a sequence. 

The definition of library catalog "Library catalog" can be defined in various ways. In the context of the five formulas of the library, it can be said - "Library catalog is a key of library collection"

Library List is a tool that provides readers with information regarding the textual material stored in the library.

What is Bibliography
The word Bibliography is derived from the Greek word 'biblion'. It means the store of books. Thus the meaning of this word becomes clear.

Conclusion: It is clear from the above description that a catalog is a tool that provides information about all the textual materials available in the library and related information can be easily obtained by catalog.

We can say that the implementation of the five sources of library science without a list is difficult. That is, we can say that the "Library catalog is a key to library collection".
